Xiao Long Bao Zi
Xiao Long Bao Zi, or usually called Xiao Long or Xiao Long Bao by Chinese, is a very popular snack in Shanghai. It is served in almost every Shanghai Cuisine Restaurant, as well as a lot of restaurants of other cuisines.

Xiao Long Bao Zi is a kind of small dumpling. Some actually call it Soup Dumpling. It is a small pork ball wrapped by flour. The wrapper of a well-made Xiao Long Bai Zi has to be very thin, alomost transparent. However, the wrapper should still be sturdy enough to hold the pork ball, and a lot of soup inside. The soup of a well-made Xiao long Bao Zi should be as much as being able to fill in a spoon.

The best practice to eat a Xiao Long Bao Zi is to put a whole one into your mouth when it is warm, be careful, not when it is hot. At the first bite, the soup inside will fill our mouth with a splendid rich taste of well cooked pork.

The cooking method is to steam the raw Xiao Long Bao Zi within a small basket, which is how it was named, "Xiao long" means "little basket". There are some variations to the original Xiao Long Bao Zi, popular ones are with crab meat, shrimp meat, or mixed crab+pork, shrimp+pork.

The Bund is a symbol of Shanghai. The 646.7-m long Sightseeing Tunnel at the Bund runs from the Bund at the end of Nanjing Rd. to the Oriental Pearl TV
Tower in Pudong. It is the first of its kind for pedestrians in China . The tunnel adopts the internationally advanced SK system, taking 2.5-5-min.to cross the river. The interior wall of the tunnel is decorated with changing colors. The unmanned environmental, transparent carriages in the tunnel provide visitors with an open view. A 6-sound-band acoustic system accompanying the changing scenes, produces an effect on visitors of being present personally at the scene.

Waibaidu Bridge

Spanning over Suzhou Creek, Waibaidu Bridge is a well-known bridge. It was first built in I 855 of wood and rebuilt in I 907 in iron and steel The bridge is 1 06.7-m long, with a load of 20 tons, a traffic lane of 11.2 m and 3.6-m wide sidewalks on both sides. It was once the most elegant and magnificent bridge in the city and, up to now, it is still considered one of the symbols of Shanghai. |
