China Huanghe Delingha 6*135MW CSP Tower Project

Located in Delingha, Qinghai Province, Huanghe Delingha 6*135MW (810MW in total) CSP Tower Project , as the biggest CSP project announced and planned in China so far has caught the eye of global industry players. Recently, the owner of the project Huanghe Hydropower Development Co., Ltd (Huanghe), a subsidiary of the China Power Investment Corporation (CPI) held 2016 Work Plan Meeting, emphasizing the following tasks will be land expropriation, EPC contract study, KPI confirmation and staff training.   

 

As CSP Focus reported earlier on the prediction for China around 1GW CSP pilot project program, the first phase of 2*135MW Huanghe Delingha CSP Tower Project with 3.5 hours thermal energy storage for each tower is among the potentials. Positively the first phase project is expected to be commissioned by the end of 2017.

 

Shanghai Electric BrightSource CSP Engineering Co., Ltd, known as the EPC for the project, is a joint venture (JV) of China Shanghai Electric Group Co., Ltd (SEC) and American BrightSource Energy Inc. (BSE). News say China’s Northwest Electrical Design Institute and Spain’s Idom also join the designing and engineering work.

 

Ms. Yvonne Huang, General Manager China from BrightSource and Chairman of the JV spoke during CSP Focus China 2015 conference that BSE will develop CSP Project with storage and other industrial applications in Western China (Qinghai, Gansu, Xinjiang and Tibet) and look for cooperation opportunities with investors, banks and financial institutions in future.
