18.8 cents--predicted FiT for China 1GW CSP pilot projects

It is reported that China Renewable Energy Engineering Institute (CREEI) has submitted to National Energy Administration (NEA) a shortlist of around 1GW CSP projects out of the 111 candidates (total capacity of 9GW), and also a suggested FiT. NEA, together with Department of Price, National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) will review and positively launch the final list of around 1GW CSP projects and confirmed FiT by this December. Afterwards, China CSP will hopefully clear the political barriers enter a real stage of project development and construction starting from 2016.

The declared prices of all the 111 projects range from RMB1.05~1.5 and the average is approximately RMB1.2418 (19.48cents). As voted by local industry players in a CSP Focus event earlier, most of them predicted the price would be around RMB1.2 (18.8cents) and over half are positive in RMB1.2+.

“The drafted target for CSP in 13th Five-Year (2016~2020) is 10GW,” Mr. Liang Zhipeng, Deputy Director of Renewable Energy Division of NEA says, “Hopefully this batch of around 1GW pilot projects could be commissioned by late 2017 so that we can speed up the development of the CSP industry afterwards and finally realize the 10GW goal.”
