Zhangjiakou targets 200MW out of China 1GW CSP pilot projects
Zhangjiakou, a city of Hebei Province near to Beijing, will co-host 2022 Beijing Olympic Winter Games. Meanwhile, Zhangjiakou has been awarded a pilot city of both power reform and renewable energy development. China National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) officially announced to achieve 1GW CSP installed capacity by 2020 and 6GW by 2030. For the detailed work in the following two years, Hebei Provincial Government released the “Notification on Organizing the Construction of Zhangjiakou Renewable Energy Pilot Zone Action Plan (2015-2017)”on this Nov. 12, planning to newly build 200MW CSP plants (Wind-2.6GW, PV-3GW) by 2017. The rough schedule for CSP follows:
l By the end of 2016: 310MW approved, 50MW commissioned;
l By the end of 2017: 150MW commissioned, total goal of 200MW achieved.
As CSP Focus reports earlier, China National Energy Administration (NEA) released the “Notification on Organizing the Construction of 1GW (around) CSP Pilot Projects” on this Sept. 30, and expected all the projects will be commissioned by the end of 2017. Obviously, compared with its CSP plan by 2017, Zhangjiakou is ambitious in taking 200MW (20%) out of the national total 1GW pilot projects. The finalists of the pilot projects are predicted to be confirmed by the end of this year. Though the government will give great support, some industry players still worry about the actual progress of the 200MW CSP projects in Zhangjiakou.
For the national 1st phase CSP pilot projects, 7 projects in Zhangjiakou joined the competition, respectively located in counties of Shangyi, Zhangbei, Kangbao and Chabei Management District.Considering their delared FiT, technical type and preliminary work, the first four projects out of the following 7 are more likely to be included in the finalists.

l Zhongyang Zhangjiakou 64MW PT Project
l Dahua Shangyi 50MW Tower (water) Project
l Shouhang Shangyi 50MW Tower Project
l China Minsheng Kangbao PT 50MW Project
l Heibei Kangbao 50MW PT Project
l CITIC Zhangjiakou 2*50MW Linear Fresnel project
