Molten-salt vendors confirmed for China CGN Delingha 50MW CSP project
CGN Delingha 50MW CSP parabolic trough project has recently announced the winners for the molten salt bidding, which is under the purchasing rule of the lender ADB: those offering lower price win. According to the percentage of solar salt--60% sodium nitrate and 40% potassium nitrate, the unit procurement price of molten salt for the CSP project is RMB3, 386 and the total cost is RMB118.51 million.

Sinkiang Nitrate Minerals Co., Ltd. (SNM) is the only candidate in the bidding of sodium nitrate, and Wentong Group won the bid of potassium nitrate against the other two bidders Jiangxi Jinlida Potassium Industry Co. Ltd. from China and SQM from Chile. It seems that domestic molten salt products are more competitive in terms of price; however, considering the lack of actual references in commercial CSP plants, much more attention should be paid to guarantee the stable operation of the power plant.
It is expected that, as the launch of around 1GW CSP pilot projects, there will be an increasing number of traditional manufacturers in agricultural and chemical nitrate home and abroad entering into CSP industry.
