In Ghana, the Transport Ministry has been directed to transfer control of the PSC Tema Shipyard and Dry Dock to the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority, which help Tema Shipyard attract the needed investment to build enough capacity to build FPSOs.
Ghana is third-largest destination for operator capex offshore West Africa. Driven by Tullow’s TEN and Eni’s OTCP, the country sees the increase of deepwater activities especially the FPSO requirement. In 2002, appointed the Engineering Manager of GNPC in charge of following Engineering Departments: Drilling, Production, Reservoir, Facilities and HSE. Retired from GNPC in October 2012, and joined Petroleum Commission as Technical Advisor in January 2013 and was appointed Acting Director of Resource Management and Operations in July 2015. B. Sc. in Chemical Engineering from KNUST (Kumasi) in 1978 M.Sc. Advanced Chemical engineering from Imperial College, London in 1982 M.Sc. Petroleum Engineering from Imperial College, London in 1983.

She has held this position since February, 2013. She is responsible for building a strong market position for the Ports of Ghana by developing, defining, negotiating and forging business relationships. Mrs Torkornoo has held other positions in the Company including Head of Marketing, Head of Administration and Head of Human Resource Development at different times. She holds an MBA from the University of Ghana, Master of Marine Management from the Dalhousie University in Canada an MSc in Ports & Shipping Administration from the World Maritime University in Sweden.
