OPEC’s newest member, Equatorial Guinea, has signed a production-sharing contract with ExxonMobil for offshore block EG-11. The new contract was signed through direct negotiation, and was not part of the EG Ronda 2016 licensing round.

“This new PSC gives ExxonMobil, already a lead producer in Equatorial Guinea, a stronger position in the country and is a vote of confidence in Equatorial Guinea’s potential for future large discoveries and upstream developments,” Equatorial Guinea said.

ExxonMobil has confirmed to give a keynote speech at the 2nd Deep Offshore West Africa Congress 2017, in Accra, Ghana on September 14-15.

Meanwhile, UK-based Ophir Energy won the block EG 24, Taleveras picked the highly potential EG-07 Oil block and Clonterf Energy landed Block EG-18.

The West African nation’s Ronda 2016 open and competitive bidding round was declared a success by Industry analyst and watchers.
