Vice General Manager of China Resources New Energy Group Co., Ltd. (China Resources New Energy), Mr. Li Jinying, said that China Resources New Energy is in talks with China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC), China Guangdong Nuclear Power Corporation (CGNPC), and China Power Investment Corporation (CPIC) in order to seek investment opportunities in nuclear power projects and uranium exploitation.
Currently, China Resources New Energy holds 25% shares in Hunan Taohuajiang NPP, which is controlled by CNNC. As one of the three inland nuclear power projects, Taohuajiang NPP was suppose to start construction this year but it was suspended due to the Fukushima accident.
Previously, China Resources New Energy also wanted to buy stock in Yangjiang NPP when the stock right of the plant changed. But it missed the opportunity.
“It’s hard to invest in current nuclear engineering companies because the equity structure is fixed. As the new projects are under suspension, we are actively communicating with nuclear corporations to see if there are investment opportunities,” Mr. Li said.
