Mr Mosa Mabuza is a qualified geologist with extensive exploration experience in South Africa, Botswana, West Africa and Canada. He joined the Department of Mineral Resources in 2006 as Director: Mineral Economics and assumed in July 2012 the current position of Deputy Director-General responsible for Mineral Policy and Promotion.
During his stay in the Department he has assumed several roles including that of technical chairperson of the Mining Industry Growth, Development and Employment Task Team (MIGDETT), which developed the mining strategy for sustainable development and meaningful transformation. He also led the process of amending the Mining Charter in 2010 and the current amendments of the Mineral and Petroleum Resources Development Act (MPRDA), which is a subject of parliamentary finalisation.
He serves in the Boards of the Council of Geosciences, Mintek and the South African Diamond and Precious Metals Regulator (SADMPR) in his capacity as the Deputy Director-General. |
