From 1983 until 1995 A. Renev worked at the Novovoronezh NPP and in 1988 he graduated from Nuclear Power Engineering Institute with a diploma in Physical Basis of NPP Operation. In 1995, he headed the group responsible for quality assurance and safety improvement in NPP operation at the Russian Research Institute for Nuclear Power Plants Operation (VNIIAES). From 2003 until 2010 he worked as Operational Safety Specialist at the IAEA Headquarters. Then he spent two years working for EC JRC as a Senior Scientist. Since 2012, Alexander Renev has been working as a Senior Manager of the Technical Department of Rusatom Overseas. Mr. Renev is in charge of comparing NPP designs and providing recommendations on the design improvements, as well as technical support in negotiations on supply of Russian-design nuclear power plants to customers abroad.
