From 1st September 2013, Mrs Ute Blohm-Hieber has been nominated head of the unit for Nuclear Fuel Market Operations in the Euratom Supply Agency of the European Commission.
Her unit focuses on enhancing the security of supply when concluding contracts for nuclear material. The Unit has also a Nuclear Market Observatory role in order to provide the Community with expertise and identify market trends that could affect security of the European Union’s supply of nuclear materials and services.
For more than 9 years, she was the Head of Unit 'Nuclear Energy Technology, Nuclear Waste & Decommissioning' in DG ENER (Directorate General for Energy); this unit dealt with the technical and societal aspects of the entire nuclear fuel cycle.
From her education she is a physicist with a Ph.D in theoretical nuclear physics. |
