Join OMC 2016 to prepare for offshore Mexico
Dear Offshore Colleague,
Good news, Mexico’s Ministry of Energy (SENER) has approved auction terms for Round 2.1, with 15 shallow water areas in Gulf of Mexico on offer, setting to open in late March 2017!
Location | Number of Blocks | Area (km2) | Prospective Resources (MMboe) |
Tampico-Misantla Basin | 4 | 2196 | 480 |
off of Veracruz | 1 | 824 | 133 |
Southeastern Gulf of Mexico | 10 | 5887 | 973 |
According to Mexico’s National Hydrocarbons Commission, the country anticipates investments of some US$750 million/block, or $11.25 billion from the contracts. Mexico will offer 30-year production sharing contracts with two options to extend five years, and the local content requirements are at between 15-35% with the maturation of the project.
PEMEX is allowed to partner on the contracts, with the aim to seek partners that can transfer technology, participate in financing requirements, and share the risks of project development.
To help the offshore players warm up the market, Offshore Mexico Congress 2016 (OMC 2016) (Nov. 17-18, Mexico City) will gather the local government & operators, to interpret the requirement and geological data for the upcoming bidding round!
