Matthew Walker is a partner in the Doha office of K&L Gates, and focuses his practice in construction law and dispute resolution. His experience includes arbitration in Qatar, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, India and the UK, under ICC, QICCA, UNCITRAL and ad hoc rules; claims in the Qatari courts (as co-counsel) as well as the English Technology & Construction Court and Court of Appeal; a series of adjudications, arbitrations and mediations relating to a telecommunications system on a major underground rail network; and an international adjudication related to a gas facility in Tanzania. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, a Member of the Chartered Institute of Building, and lectures regularly in Qatar and the UAE.

Mr. Walker also provides non-contentious construction advice, particularly in the rail sector. He spent six months seconded to Qatar Rail, 3 months seconded to the Crossrail Project (for Carillion) and 16 months seconded to London Underground.  He has advised on tendering and procurement on the Doha Metro project (for Qatar Rail) and on the East London Line (for Transport for London), and has provided contract and dispute avoidance advice to London Underground Limited in respect of the Connect PFI Project and the periodic review of the JNP PPP contract.
