Eni’s CEO talks in Area 4 progress with Mozambique’s president

Claudio Descalzi, CEO of the Italian oil and gas company Eni held talks with the president of Mozambique, Filipe Jacinto Nyusi last Monday.
The development of Mozambique’s Area 4 was the major subject of the discussions, as the company recently approved the investment plan for the Coral South project, in the deep waters of the Rovuma Basin, Eni’s statement reads.
In addition, Eni and the government of Mozambique in October signed a 20-year deal with UK-based BP for the supply of liquefied natural gas from the Coral FLNG project.
During his visit to Mozambique, Descalzi met with the country’s prime minister Carlos Agostinho do Rosário, the minister of mineral resources, Letícia Klemens, and the president of the state company ENH Omar Mithá.
Eni is the operator of Area 4 with a 50 percent indirect interest. The other concessionaires are Galp Energia, Kogas and Empresa Nacional de Hidrocarbonetos (ENH), each owning a 10 percent stake. CNPC owns a 20 percent indirect interest in Area 4 through Eni East Africa.
