Mexico’s oil regulator National Hydrocarbons Commission (CNH) has approved the drilling plans for five offshore projects. CNH has so far approved the drilling of 23 exploration wells for next year. On the other hand, Mexican president-elect Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador is proposing to boost spending for exploration and drilling new oil and gas wells by 75 billion pesos ($4 billion) in the next year to help the country make up for steep production declines in the past decade. So what is CNH’s next step?
