近几年，受“去产能”、“去库存”等结构性改革和经济下行影响，国内不良资产大幅增加。外资机构投资中国境内不良资产的兴趣有明显的提升，一些不良资产跨境交易业务也在兴起。其中前交所跨境不良资产交易量约70亿，占整个跨境业务的七成左右。
In recent years, affected by structural reforms such as "de-capacity" and "de-inventory" and the economic downturn, China non-performing assets have increased substantially. The interest of foreign-invested institutions in investing in non-performing assets in China has increased markedly, and some cross-border transactions in non-performing assets have also arisen. Among them, the cross-border non-performing assets of Qianhai Financial Asset Exchange accounted for about 7 billion, accounting for about 70% of the total cross-border business.

基于此，前交所也在重点发力跨境交易业务。2018年年底，前交所重新确立了战略定位，意在打造一个企业流动性资产交易服务和金融要素跨境交易服务平台，目前专门有一个跨境交易的平台“跨境通”的系统已经上线运营，不断地在进行升级迭代；为了符合监管部门的需要，已经与银行进行对接，从而帮助客户进行相关业务的备案、报备，与此同时业务品种也逐步丰富，到今年已经有多种类型业务进行交易。
