In March 2016, Siemens AG, Toshiba Corp and Alstom Power Systems, took part in the tender for Hanhikivi 1 NPP under construction in Finland. According to the assessment and comparison of bids, Alstom Power Systems win the bidder and supply the turbine for the Hanhikivi 1 NPP.

Hanhikivi-1, a 1,200MWe VVER pressurised water reactor of the Russian AES-2006 type, is being built by Rosatom. In 2015, it has applied construction license and will get construction license in 2017. Construction of the plant (first concrete) will begin in 2018.
