Zaporozhe 1 with 30-year design service life ended on 23 December 2015 and on 14 December the unit was placed in the cold shutdown. Now, SNRI(Ukraine’s State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate) has inspected Zaporozhe NPP unit 1 with a view to extension of its service life, specially focus on issues of seismic stability, qualification of the equipment and some safety justification, until now, there is no critical issues which could prevent service life extension. In fact, there are 15 reactors in operation in Ukraine, the operator, NNEGC Energoatom wants to extend all the existing NPPs’ lifetime. As the equipment vendor, engineering consulting, safety services companies etc., why not take a market share of Ukraine’s Life extension?
