Hungary Big News:
♦ The European Commission is expected to issue a decision "within weeks" on Hungary's plan to build two additional reactors at Paks, Attila Aszódi, the government commissioner responsible for Paks II, said. The submission of the site license application for the new units to Hungary's regulator is scheduled for the end of Oct, 2016.
♦ Once the site and environmental licenses have been issued, the construction license application can be prepared,. Construction work would start in 2018.

Finland News:
♦ Areva said on 19 October that the EPR under construction at unit 3 of the Okiluoto NPP in Finland was on track for cold functional tests in the early summer of 2017.
♦ Finnish waste management company Posiva will share its experience and know-how of developing a repository for used nuclear fuel and high-level radioactive waste with the Czech Republic's Radioactive Waste Repository Authority (SÚRAO) through a four-year service contract.

Bulgaria News:
♦ Work to upgrade unit 5 of the Kozloduy nuclear plant in Bulgaria has been completed, extending its operations by 30 years to 2047, Meanwhile, Bulgaria today committed itself to fast-tracking payment of the debt it incurred to Russian companies for scrapping the Belene nuclear power plant project.

Ukraine News:
♦ Ukrainian nuclear utility Energoatom and GE Power on 19 October signed a MOU to co-operate in the modernization of Ukrainian NPP turbine hall equipment.
