U.S. energy company Chevron Corp and trading firm Glencore on Thursday announced separate plans to enter Mexico's fuel market, as the long-hidebound sector begins to attract major foreign players.

Mexican oilfield services provider Cotemar plans to invest at least $200 million in two oil projects by the end of 2018 as it starts to operate fields on its own, a move made possible by sweeping energy reforms.

Mexico’s energy resources have been firmly on the radar of foreign investors since the sector opened and the new discoveries only affirm their attractiveness.
