In December 2016 blocks 1 and 3 in the Saline Basin were awarded to a consortium consisting of Statoil (33.4%), BP (33.3%) and Total (33.3%). Statoil is the operator of the consortium and will in dialogue with partners and Mexican authorities decide on the way forward.
Statoil has confirmed to join in the 2nd Offshore Mexico Congress 2017 on Nov. 13-14 in Mexico City, Mexico.

The blocks cover an area of about 5,650 square kilometres in a largely unexplored deepwater area.
The winning bids for blocks 1 and 3 presented by Statoil and partners consisted of an additional royalty of 10% (on potential future revenues) and an additional work programme equivalent to 1 biddable well per block.
