The four blocks deep offshore Mozambique awarded in the 5^th bidding round last year may not be new to you. But it is thrilling that recently Mozambique's National Petroleum (INP) said that the contracts would be finalized within 2 to 4 months early next year with the companies.

It’s indicated that the winning bidders would start looking for oil and gas immediately after the signing of these contracts.

Mozambique has some 85 trillion cubic feet of gas reserves – while the new reserve is to be explored soon, Eni aims to close the Coral South financing and finish the deal with ExxonMobil of 50% of the stake in Area 4 by early 2017.

Dismissed speculation in similar negotiations with Exxon to buy its stake in Area 1, Anadarko is committed to long-term involvement in the development of energy resources within Mozambique, aiming to finish the FID within 2017.
