OSV Companies Targets Mozambique Offshore Market
Dutch OSV company, Vroon Offshore has established a presence in Mozambique with the establishment of Mozambique Limitada this September. “We see this as an important strategic move, providing us the opportunity to fully participate in this region’s offshore market,” said the company.
Recently, Norway’s rival , Tschudi Group is forming a new company in Mozambique to build its offshore vessel business in South-east Africa.
Tschudi Mozambique is a partnership with EnergyWorks, described as a “well-established” domestic company with a solid knowledge of the local oil and gas sector.
“Mozambique has vast unexplored oil and gas reserves and limited offshore infrastructure, and a local presence is a key success factor for operating in the South-east African market,” Tschudi said.
“We are now well prepared for the expected demand for offshore supply vessels (OSVs) and multiple tenders in the Mozambican offshore industry while also being able to provide ample opportunity for local manpower and services.”
The hope is to operate with Mozambican crew in the future.
These are challenging times for OSV owners who are now hit with the harsh realities of declining utilisation. Most of the OSV owners are looking for a new market which can deposit the vessels.
