Mozambique Project Progress: 5th Tender, Area 1 & Area 4
Mozambique: 5th Tender to be Finalized
The most concerned negotiation of contracts for oil & gas exploration for the fifth tender in Mozambique could be finalized by the end of next June.
In addition, Anadarko and Eni set to take decisions on huge projects in the coming months despite difficulties of operating in the country.
Anadarko: Offshore Area 1 in the Rovuma basin
The development project will involve the installation of subsea production systems, including subsea production trees, manifolds, chemical injection distribution facilities, flowlines, electro-hydraulic control umbilicals, PLET systems.
A floating production unit is also proposed to be installed during the later phases of the project.
Eni: Area 4, Rovuma Basin, Mozambique
The plan for development of the Coral discovery was approved on 24 February 2016 and forms the first phase of development, which is estimated to cost $8bn.
The Coral field development involves the drilling of six subsea wells and the construction and installation of a floating LNG facility. And a 45km-long subsea pipeline corridor will transfer the produced natural gas from the reservoirs to the onshore LNG facility.
A total of 60 production wells are proposed to be drilled at Offshore Areas 1 and 4 during the initial phases, which would increase to 120 wells in subsequent phases.
An analysis of Mozambique’s active offshore gas projects will be presented from the national company ENH, the investors of these projects, by their EVP for Exploration & Production, Dr. Tavares Martinho, on 3rd Deepwater East & Southern Africa Congress 2017 (Mar. 16-17 | Maputo).
He has over 20 years’ experience in oil and gas industry as exploration geologist. In 1996, he concluded the course of Geology at University Eduardo Mondlane. He joined ENH in 1995 as geologist and was appointed vice-President for Exploration from 2008. In 2014, he was appointed vice-President for Commercial, Marketing, and New Ventures. At that role, his task was to find market for the huge amounts of natural gas discovered in the Rovuma Basin and to find gas for the industrialization of Mozambique through development of local market. In September 2016, he was again appointed vice-President for Exploration and Production. From 2000 he has been teaching tectonics, general geology and petroleum geology at University of Eduardo Mondlane, as part time. During the last ten years he developed skills as industry liaison, as well as informing local communities about the exploration and production activities in Mozambique. |
