Relinquishing two discoveries, Reliance Industries will conduct DST at another three deepwater discoveries, in accord with a cabinet decision that Indian government offer those who make oil & gas discovery options to relinquish the block, conduct Drill Stem Test (DST) or develop the discovery without conducting DST in a ring-fenced manner since April.

In the past few years, interests conflicting and legal tangles fill Indian O & G exploration sector. Besides this new E & P policy, the government is contemplating to make three major changes in the auctioning system that includes abolishing block auctioning by bringing "open acreage" system for the coming NELP-X.

It’s clear to see that for extensive exploration to reduce its import, India is trying to offer a way out of the logjam between the operators and the regulator. Under the patronage of Indian government, Deepwater India Congress 2015 (Nov. 26-27, New Delhi) will show you the determination & solution from the government.
