China Automotive Technology and Research Center (CATARC), the centralized technical organization of the auto industry and the technical supporting body, shared its development of vehicle lightweight research at Global Automotive Lightweight Forum 2018 (SZ&W Event). CATARC indicated that the integral level of China’s vehicle lightweight is on the rise and compared to joint brands, there are 5% lightweight possibility. But with the limitations of cost and safety, the majority of lightweight design are focused on structure optimization. The application of new materials and new technologies are immature.
在国内外汽车行业具有广泛影响力的综合性技术服务科研院所中国汽车技术研究中心在第一届全球汽车轻量化论坛上就中汽中心轻量化事业发展做出了详述。中汽中心指出我国汽车行业轻量化整体水平处于稳步上升阶段，相对于合资品牌平均有5%左右的轻量化空间，但是受成本、安全等限制，目前轻量化设计多以结构优化为主，新材料与新工艺的应用仍需要大力推广。
