Engineering plastics (Makrolon)is one of the most important lightweight materials, which has been used for automotive lighting shell and instrument panel. The transparent feature makes engineering plastics to be an alternative of window glass and windshield. Covestro, one of the largest polymer manufacturing companies, designed a concept vehicle, which has a whole makrolon made cockpit with lighter body weight and cooler appearance. Covestro shared that compared to glass, makrolon car window can decrease 50% weight and makrolon products have been widely used for interior and exterior assembly units. 工程塑料(聚碳酸酯)是当下一种重要的轻量化材料,许多车灯外壳、仪表盘就是用它制造的。由于具有透明的特点,很早就有人提出用它来替代汽车的车窗玻璃和挡风玻璃,全球最大的聚合物生产公司之一科思创的概念车,直接使用了聚碳酸酯材料制造了整个驾驶舱,不仅降低了车身重量,同时也为我们带来了一个透明驾驶舱的前卫汽车。科思创表示,与玻璃相比,聚碳酸酯车窗重量可减轻50%。据了解,其聚碳酸酯产品广泛应用于汽车内外饰部件中。
