David Durham

David Durham is Senior Vice President & Chief Commercial Officer, GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy (GEH).  In this role, he leads GEH’s new nuclear plant sales and commercial operations teams.  Mr. Durham led GEH’s efforts successfully negotiating the April 5, 2013 Dominion Resources North Anna 3 new nuclear build project development agreement and engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract using GEH’s Gen III+ ESBWR technology (value undisclosed).  Earlier, Mr. Durham managed GEH’s sales and marketing activities for nuclear fuel and plant services for operating boiling water and CANDU reactors.  He has been a member of the Civilian Nuclear Trade Advisory Committee (CINTAC) to the U.S. Secretary of Commerce for the past 4 years.

Prior to joining GEH, Mr. Durham was Vice President of Fluor Corporation responsible for business development for Fluor’s Nuclear Power and Government businesses.   He led Fluor’s efforts winning the US$10+ billion Gen III ABWR nuclear new build engineering, procurement and construction contract for South Texas Project in the U.S., as well as several multi-billion dollar nuclear decommissioning contracts in the U.S., UK and Russian Federation. 

Earlier in his career, Mr. Durham served from 1989 to 1992 as a senior Bush Administration official reporting to two Cabinet ministers, overseeing environmental policy development and enforcement activities at U.S. government nuclear facilities and defense installations as Special Assistant for Cabinet Affairs to EPA Administrator Reilly and then overseeing the US$6+ billion per year nuclear decommissioning and environmental cleanup programs at nuclear defense facilities and national laboratories as Special Assistant (Environment) to Secretary Watkins.
Prior to his Bush Administration service, Mr. Durham practiced environmental law; represented the real estate industry before the U.S. Congress, the White House and other federal agencies; and served at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency as a liaison to other federal agencies.
