GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy (GEH)

GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy (GEH) is recognized as the world's foremost developer of Boiling Water Reactors (BWR), fuel cycle products, and nuclear plant services. Our alliance has designed and built four Generation III plants on-budget and on-schedule.

GEH's state-of-the art Economic Simplified Boiling Water Reactor (ESBWR) utilizes natural circulation and fully passive safety systems to form the industry's safest Generation III+ reactor design, as measured by the industry standard core damage frequency. It safely cools the core for more than 7 days without electricity or operator action in a station blackout situation.

Our Advanced Boiling Water Reactor (ABWR) is the world's first and only Generation III reactor technology with operating experience, a proven design, and demonstrated construction schedule. ABWR is the industry's safest Generation III reactor design, as measured by core damage frequency.

GEH's PRISM is a Generation IV sodium cooled reactor whose metal fuel can include a wide variety of materials ¨C uranium, plutonium, and all other transuranics. With this robust fuel capability, PRISM can recycle used nuclear fuel or plutonium waste while generating electricity for the grid. PRISM has the ability to air-cool itself indefinitely without AC or DC power or operator action in a station blackout situation.
