Duncan McGinty is Leader of Sedgemoor District Council.  He was elected to the Council in 1997. 

Duncan has had a wide variety of posts at the Council – chair of the Staff Committee, Vice-chair of Licensing Committee, served on the Economic Development Committee, Vice-Chairman of the Development Control Committee and portfolio holder for Planning and Transportation.

He was elected as Leader of the Council in April 2005 after being deputy leader for three years.

Over the past three years Duncan has become well-known within national nuclear arena, speaking at various conferences and summits. He was instrumental in campaigning for community benefit from national infrastructure projects. He also writes in the media about Sedgemoor’s interactions with EDF Energy.
