Mexico’s offshore fields especially the deepwater zones also undoubtedly hold significant development potential. Before the new bidding round awarded, how much do you know about the petroleum engineering in field development in the region?

PEMEX’s First Deepwater Project-Lakach Development Details

Lakach project was approved for development in November 2007, first production from the field is expected in the second half of 2015 and peak production in 2016.

According to PEMEX, the project will be developed by drilling six development wells and further development of appraisal wells, provided with complete subsea production systems interconnected to two subsea manifolds.

But during the Lakach development, what are the main challenges that PEMEX and the contractors come across?

Will there be any plans for Mexican oil & gas infrastructure to optimize the offshore E&P?
