Welcome Address

Dear Colleagues,

It’s my greatest pleasure, on behalf of the Organizing Committee, to welcome you to attend the 3rd World Nuclear Decommissioning & Waste Management Congress (Europe) 2018, which will be held on September 18-19th, in London, UK. It is co-located with our 3rd World Nuclear Decommissioning & Waste Management Congress (Europe) 2018.

To date, over 115 commercial power reactors, 48 experimental or prototype reactors, over 250 research reactors and several fuel cycle facilities have been retired from operation. In 2016, 3 nuclear reactors, respectively in Germany, Korea and Sweden, have been shut down. In the ongoing decade more nuclear power plants will be shut down worldwide due to their operating life and political decisions. The closure and the decommissioning of nuclear power plants, particularly power reactors, pose high demands regarding planning, authorization, project management, waste handling and innovative technologies. This creates huge business opportunities in the region.

The 3rd World Nuclear Decommissioning & Waste Management Congress (Europe) 2018 is a top-level international event focusing on Europe with special attention to the UK, Germany, France, Finland, Spain, Italy and Sweden. It will also introduce some international practices from global markets including Asia-Pacific, North America and Africa.

The congress in London connects companies with cutting-edge information and emerging trends which affect the nuclear decommissioning & waste management industry. Governments, regulators, operators, technology & service providers and other organizations will provide information and insights on the most important aspects of decommissioning projects and waste handling. Meanwhile, for those who are keen to find new investment opportunities or strengthen their presence in the global market, especially the European market, this two-day event will also provide a cozy platform to meet your future partners.

We are looking forward to seeing you in London!

Best regards,

Organizing Committee of the 3rd World Nuclear Decommissioning & Waste Management Congress (Europe) 2018
