OKG, the joint-venture between Uniper (54.5%) and Fortum (45.5%), has permanently shut down the first unit of the Oskarhamn nuclear power plant in Sweden, in line with the planning set previously in October 2015 and February 2016.
Oskarhamn-1 is a 473 MW BWR (boiling water reactor), which started operations in 1972, while Oskarshamn-2 is a 638 MWe BWR, which began operating in 1974 and has been offline since May 2013. It closed in 2015 and is currently scheduled for decommissioning in 2020.
