The Germany new law sets a phased program and is reviewed every year with a final goal in 2021/22. The oldest 8 plants were shut down in March 2011. They supplied one-third of the German electricity of nuclear origin. The last 6 (out of 17) must be stopped in 2021 and 2022. The others will be stopped at the rate of one every two years.
Germany is offering a great opportunity for new suppliers of decommissioning services because over the next five years all of its shutdown nuclear power plants will enter the decommissioning phase.
As is well-known after the disaster of Fukushima, the government decided to immediately close several nuclear reactors, at least two of which belong to the Swedish group Vattenfall.
Now Dirk Schümann , Head of Nuclear Engineering from Vattenfall Europe Nuclear Energy GmbH confirms to join the 3rd World Nuclear Decommissioning & Waste Management Congress (Europe) 2018 !
