Turkey · MENA Nuclear Industry Congress 2014

The inaugural Turkey ¡¤ MENA Nuclear Industry Congress (NIC) will be held on Apr 15-16, 2014 in Istanbul, Turkey. The Organizing Committee cordially invites you to come and actively participate in this intriguing event. 
Among the countries who are under serious consideration to develop nuclear power, the front runners are Turkey UAE, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, concentrating in the MENA region. Approximately $200 billion worth of nuclear projects have been planned in MENA region.
UAE has been constructing the first reactor since 2009 and the installation of the Containment Liner Plate (CLP) in the reactor containment building for ENEC¡¯s Barakah Unit 1 has taken place. The $20 billion civil nuclear programme is on schedule with the country¡¯s first nuclear reactor expected to start operations in 2017. In Turkey, following Rosatom¡¯s $20bn Build-Own-Operate contract for the AKKUYU NPP, a $22 billion contract has been awarded to a Japanese-French consortium to build Turkey¡¯s second nuclear power plant at Sinop on the Black Sea coast. Jordan is soon to decide

which of the competing Russian and French-Japanese led consortiums will build two onegigawatt nuclear reactors near the capital at an estimated cost of €12 billion. Furthermore, progress continues at the construction of a $175 million Jordan Research and Training Reactor (JRTR) . Saudi Arabia¡¯s KA CARE is looking to build 16 reactors by 2030 and is considering only Generation 3 and 3+ advanced reactors which have already licensed, built and operated safely. It expects the first to be built by 2022.
