Craig Reiersen is Head of New Reactor Licensing at the Office for Nuclear Regulation, the UK’s independent regulator for safety and security at licensed nuclear sites.  His responsibilities include leading ONR’s engagement with companies seeking to construct and operate new nuclear power reactors in the UK.   After completing a PhD in human factors, Craig worked for the OECD Halden Reactor Project in Norway, and Nuclear Electric in the UK, before joining ONR in 1993.   He has held a number of roles at ONR, including specialist and site inspection.  As ONR professional lead for licensing and for human and organisational factors he developed concepts such as intelligent customer and has led production of ONR’s suite of guidance in these areas, including ONR guidance to prospective licensees “Licensing Nuclear Installations”.
